SFI Harnesses
SFI-Certified Harnesses Built for Competition
The 50 Caliber Racing Race Series is built for racers who need SFI-certified restraints with options to match their vehicle, seat and driving style. Choose from 5 Point and 6 Point configurations, 2 inch and 3 inch belt widths, multiple colors, and either a Race Latch or Camlock buckle system.
For shoulder comfort, choose Ultra Kush™ padding. For a firmer, more direct restraint feel, choose non-padded shoulder belts preferred by many racers.
Built Around How You Race
Every racer wants a different level of comfort and restraint. The Race Series lets you tailor the setup to your vehicle, seating position and driving style.
- 5 Point or 6 Point: Choose a single or dual anti-submarine strap configuration.
- Race Latch: Traditional latch & link buckle system, available in 5 Point configurations.
- Camlock: Quick-release camlock buckle available in both 5 Point and 6 Point configurations.
- 2 Inch or 3 Inch: Choose the belt width that works best with your race setup.
- Ultra Kush™ Padded Shoulders: Added shoulder comfort for longer races and rough terrain.
- Non-Padded Shoulders: A firmer, more direct restraint feel for racers who prefer minimal cushion between the belt and body.
- Multiple Colors: Match your harness to your UTV, race car or build.
BUILT FOR UTV & OFF-ROAD RACING
50 Caliber Racing SFI harnesses can be installed in a wide range of UTVs, side-by-sides and competition vehicles with appropriate harness mounting points. Popular applications include Polaris RZR, Can-Am Maverick, Yamaha YXZ1000R, Kawasaki KRX 1000, Honda Talon and other performance off-road platforms.
Harness fitment depends on the seat, cage and available mounting locations. Always verify that your vehicle provides the correct mounting points and belt routing for the harness configuration being installed.
SFI Racing Harness FAQ
Not every UTV needs an SFI-certified restraint. These answers explain what SFI certification means, when it may be required and how to choose the Race Series configuration that works for your vehicle and racing application.
What is SFI certification?
Our Race Series harnesses are certified to SFI 16.1. SFI Foundation, Inc. develops and administers performance specifications used for motorsports safety equipment.
SFI 16.1 establishes requirements covering areas such as webbing, hardware, construction and performance of the restraint assembly.
SFI-certified harnesses include an official certification tag identifying the applicable specification and certification date.
Do I need an SFI-certified harness?
An SFI-certified harness is commonly required when competing in a sanctioned racing series or event that specifies certified driver restraints.
For recreational riding such as trails, dunes, rock crawling and general off-road use, an SFI-certified harness is typically not required.
If you plan to race, always verify the current restraint requirements for your specific organization, class and vehicle.
If SFI certification is not required for your application, our recreational harness lineup may provide a more convenient everyday option.

What is the difference between an SFI harness and a standard UTV harness?
SFI-certified racing harnesses are designed around a defined motorsports performance specification and include an official certification tag. They are commonly used when a racing organization requires certified driver restraints.
Standard UTV harnesses are designed primarily for recreational off-road use such as trail riding, dunes, desert driving and rock crawling. They often place greater emphasis on comfort, quick adjustment and everyday convenience.
- Certification: SFI harnesses carry an SFI certification tag; recreational harnesses do not.
- Construction: Race Series harnesses use separate belt sections and competition-oriented hardware.
- Competition use: Many racing organizations require an approved certified restraint.
- Recreational use: A certified race harness may not be necessary if your riding or event does not require one.
What is the difference between a 5 Point and 6 Point racing harness?
A 5 Point harness uses two shoulder belts, two lap belts and one anti-submarine strap that runs between the legs and connects at the buckle.
A 6 Point harness uses two anti-submarine straps, creating two lower restraint points instead of one.
50 Caliber Racing offers 5 Point Race Series harnesses with either our Race Latch latch & link system or Camlock buckle. Our 6 Point Race Series harnesses are available with Camlock.
Which configuration is right for your vehicle depends on the seat, mounting locations, driver position and requirements of your race organization or class.
Should I choose a Race Latch or Camlock harness?
The Race Latch is our traditional latch & link buckle system and is available on 5 Point Race Series harnesses.
The Camlock uses a quick-release central buckle and is available in both 5 Point and 6 Point configurations.
Both are designed for competition use. The choice comes down to your preferred buckle style, harness configuration and race setup.
Should I choose padded or non-padded shoulder belts?
Ultra Kush™ padded shoulders add cushioning across the shoulder area and can improve comfort during longer races and rough off-road driving.
Non-padded shoulder belts provide a firmer, more direct restraint feel with less material between the webbing and the driver. Many racers prefer this setup because they want the harness to hold them as firmly and consistently as possible.
Neither choice is automatically right for every driver. It comes down to fit, comfort and the restraint feel you prefer.
Should I choose 2 inch or 3 inch harness straps?
Race Series harnesses are available in both 2 inch and 3 inch widths.
The best choice depends on your driver setup, seat, personal preference and any requirements established by your racing organization.
Two-inch shoulder strap configurations are also compatible with most HANS-style head and neck restraint devices.
Always verify belt-width and routing requirements with the manufacturer of your specific head and neck restraint.
Can I use these harnesses with a HANS device?
Our 2 inch shoulder strap configurations are compatible with most HANS-style head and neck restraint devices. The narrower shoulder webbing works with the belt guides used by many head and neck restraint systems.
Always verify belt width, routing and installation requirements with the manufacturer of your specific device and with your racing organization's current rules.
Does an SFI racing harness expire?
SFI-certified harnesses include an official certification tag showing the applicable specification and certification date.
Racing organizations may limit how long a certified harness remains eligible for competition. Many require restraints to remain within a defined certification period.
Always check the current rules of your sanctioning organization or racing series before an event rather than relying solely on the age of the harness.
